Description

In Peru, Fair-Fruit operates through the mango production company SID Peru, located in the Piura province. The fruit is sold to the packing and exporting company FLP del Peru.

Farm Aurélie has a capacity to produce over 1500 tonnes of exportable mangoes per year.

With an average exportable yield of 20 tonnes per ha, 2012-2013 was a good season for SID Peru. In 2012 the pumping schedule for irrigation was restructured, resulting in significant electricity and water savings. Integrated pest management became high on the agenda, with trainings and implementing non-chemical control measures.

Outlook

SID Peru is focusing on the growth of the newly Kent-grafted hectares. the team is working hard to put in place the Sustainable Agriculture Network standards in order to obtain the Rainforest Alliance certificate.

Environmental protection starts with good education. Farm Aurélie is one of the best examples in the region on how farming and environmental care can go together. That is why we want to invite the children of the neighbouring school on the farm for an environmental education day.
